Ying Wa Girls' School
Overcoming Challenging Site Constraints - Design on Steep Sloping Ground
P&T is the architect, structural and BS engineer of the project and P&T took on the challenge of redeveloping Ying Wa Girls' School, tackling difficult site conditions with creativity and precision. The project, featuring two structures built on steep terrain with gradients nearing 40°, required innovative solutions due to the site's designation as a "scheduled" area with strict excavation limits.
To ensure stability, we implemented temporary works to secure the adjacent Robinson Road and upgraded the slopes and retaining walls to meet current regulations. Utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM), we optimized the design and planned for smooth coordination of architectural, structural, and building services. This 3D model also helped the contractor anticipate potential construction challenges ahead of time.
The result is a seamless blend of engineering ingenuity and architectural vision in a complex, challenging environment.
