P&T Group is honored to unveil the design of the Main Mosque at the Security Forces Medical Center in Riyadh, a modern spiritual sanctuary commissioned by the Ministry of Interior to stand as a symbol of reflection, community, and cultural identity within one of the world’s largest healthcare campuses.

This architectural landmark accommodates 1,500 worshippers, featuring separate prayer halls for men and women, ablution spaces, an Imam’s office, library, classrooms, and an outdoor plaza for communal prayers and gatherings. But more than just function, the design embodies meaning.

Drawing inspiration from the traditional image of Qurans stacked in reverence, the form of the mosque unfolds as layered volumes, each one a step in a spiritual journey. Visitors enter through a shaded courtyard and progress through a tranquil sequence of thresholds before reaching the prayer hall, reinforcing a sense of ascension and devotion.

Wrapped in a contemporary interpretation of Najdi mashrabiya, the façade filters light while celebrating local artistry. The metal screen, cast in a warm bronze finish, transforms the mosque into a glowing centerpiece, radiating calm by day and a luminous spiritual presence by night.

Strategically relocated to the heart of the campus, the mosque’s new position enhances visibility, accessibility, and symbolism. With the healing garden relocated next to the hospital to better serve patients, this subtle masterplan adjustment was embraced by the client as a powerful gesture of user-centered design.

Every detail reflects sustainability and cultural relevance, from the use of local materials and a double-skin façade for thermal efficiency, to the integration of naturally lit spaces that invite stillness and reflection.
