Description
The Hong Kong headquarters of the Standard Chartered Bank was built on a small site at Queen’s Road Central and Des Voeux Road, at Statue Square. The tower features a distinct stepped profile and provides 28,500 sqm of first class office accommodation. The tall classically inspired main entrance foyer is the focal point of the project, reached via a flight of stairs from Statue Square. Two stained glass windows, designed by Remo Riva depict “Hong Kong Today” and “Hong Kong Tomorrow”, providing the visual focal point to the adjoining main lift hall. Two bronze sculptures of the bank’s founders were added in late 1991. The tower is clad in Italian and Chinese granites and colour matching rose reflective glass in powder coated aluminium frames.
