Description
A museum development of 18,500 square metres forming part of the museum complex completes the Master Plan for the Museums of Science and History. The height and massing has been carefully reviewed in relation to Chatham Road and a stepping effect of the exhibition halls has
been created to produce the desired spatial quality.
From the Phase I planning, a grid of modular spaces 18m x 18m
served by service-zones of 4.5 metres wide has been applied to provide efficiency and flexibility.
An internal courtyard has been planned to preserve certain mature trees on-site, and provide the visual interest and spatial relief.
