Description
Located in Tuen Mun, this project is to develop a new Special School cum Residential Home for boys with moderate to severe behavioral and emotional difficulties.

Located in a sloped triangular-shaped site, the building dispositioned in a way to maximize open spaces and views. To respond to the special needs of the Students with behavioral and emotional difficulties, the design adopted a split function blocks interconnected by semi-open corridor-bridge maximizing openness, created courtyard spaces and breakout spaces for activities and interaction, enhanced visual connection and surveillance, facilitated daylight penetration and natural ventilation. The stepping function blocks also created cascade roof areas providing plenty of outdoor space for activities and leisure enjoyment. These design elements are crucial to the emotional health and wellness of the students.

The Residential Home is integrated on top of the School, allowing excellence connection vertically between the two, while maintaining privacy of boarding part. Raised above the School, boarders can fully enjoy the roof terraces of the School as private garden, with view to tranquil atmosphere facing hillside greeneries to the West, and open view to the East. It establishes an enjoyable and wellness environment for school and boarding lives.
