Description
The campus was originally designed for 10,000 students but has been extended to cater for 25,000 making this one of the largest and densest educational establishments in the world. The basic concept of the master plan has proved extremely successful over the last 25 years. A main student level was formed above all workshops and specialist facilities. The landscaped student deck, protected and above the main roads, acts as the main linkage to the library, sports centre and the multi-purpose buildings. The square multi-purpose blocks, with an open centre, are raised above this base structure. Each unit features 4 cylindrical corner elements which contain all services, such as lifts, stairs, mechanical and electrical supplies. The clear organisation of services and served space, creates a strong and unifying element to the large complex. Further extensions have been added over the years and the final phases are currently under construction.
