Description
Son Tay is a grade 3 suburban town located 35km west of Hanoi and defines with Soc Son, Phu Xuyen, Xuan Mai and Hoa Lac the five satellite towns surrounding Hanoi.
Son Tay’s location to the red river and the airport further north and its proximity to Hoa Lac and Xuan Mai are indications for great future growth with the potential merge of its southern neighbors to the benefit of all three satellite towns.
The town’s current population stands at 165.000 residents and is expected to increase to 230.000 people by the year 2030.
Son Tay’s quintessence is twofold: its natural beauty rich green landscape and scenic Dong Mo and Xuan Khanh lakes and its diverse cultural heritage, manifested in Duong Lam ancient village, Mia pagoda, Va temple and Son Tay citadel to name just a few.
It is these qualities that characterize Son Tay combined with its favorable location and potential for further growth and development that make Son Tay a predictably successful urban development to the benefit of Son Tay itself and to Hanoi.
The rural beauty and indigenous character are identified as Son Tay’s prime value for its development into a satellite City of Hanoi.
The design aims to position Son Tay as a high-quality tourist destination catering to both local and foreign tourist. To broaden its appeal especially to foreign tourist the range of attractions is extended to what is typically expected from a Vietnam tourist destination and elevates urban elements of the original master plan to appeal to an international audience.
