Description
The performing arts centre includes a1500-seat theatre, a 500-seat oval shaped concert hall and an ancillary music school. The experience of going into the auditorium of the theatre was celebrated as “a voyage to drama” while the circulations and staircases was expressed to lead guests to their seats. The library, apart from serving the community as a district main library, it houses also the two exhibition halls on its lower floors. Formed by colonnade of reading booths, the lobby was designed to resemble “a gigantic bookcase” that orientates the visitors to the right sections of the library while reading areas are punched with gardens and courtyards. The theme of bamboo was carried through in the design of the elevation and choice of materials.
